Edwin Ombaka
Head of Internal Audit
Edwin has 14 years of experience in public sector audit and has been involved in many audit assignments at various Ministries, Government Departments and Agencies. He has also audited a number of donor funded projects, administration funds, pension schemes and several Kenyan Foreign missions. Edwin was also in the National Treasury’s team of trainers on governance and risk management, where he supported various public institutions in setting up Audit Committees and development of risk management policy frameworks.
Prior to joining the Directorate, he was the Audit Manager at the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA). He has also served as the head of Audit at the Public Service Superannuation Fund and the Kenya Leather Development Council.
Edwin holds an MBA (Finance) from The University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Kenyatta University. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He has full memberships at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Information Systems and Control Association (ISACA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
