Kennedy Onyonyi, FPRSK, OGW
Head of Capacity Building
Kennedy Onyonyi is a multiskilled person with a bias in Public Relations, Communication, Capacity Building, and Advocacy gained in both the public and private sectors locally and internationally.
Before joining the Directorate 4 years ago, he served as a Capacity Building Expert at the African Tax Administration Forum in Pretoria SA, for four years. He also served at the Kenya Revenue Authority for fifteen years, winding up as the Senior Deputy Commissioner in charge of Marketing, Communication, International Relations and Public Relations. He has also held diverse business positions with private sector firms including the Nation Media Group (Business Manager of The East African Newspaper), Colgate Palmolive (Sales Representative), Eveready Batteries (New Products Manager), and Gillette (National Sales Manager). He also served as a newscaster on both radio and television (English and Kiswahili) with the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
Kennedy led two Inter-Ministerial task forces successfully including the Multi-Agency Taskforce on Sugar Industry Safeguard Measures and the Multi-Agency Anti-Counterfeit Taskforce, which led to establishment of safeguard measures for the local sugar industry and establishment of the Kenya Anti-Counterfeit Agency.
He holds an MA degree in International Relations (University of Kent), B. Com (University of Nairobi), PG. Dip. in Public Relations (Kenyatta University. He is a fellow of the Public Relations Society of Kenya and a recipient of Presidential Honours (Order of the Grand Warrior).
